Kiamichi Cares is a local pay it forward movement serving the Kiamichi Wilderness Community and surrounding areas of Pushmataha County, Oklahoma.. Services are provided through organized projects, earmarked donations and volunteers.
The types of projects include personal assistance with family needs, restoration of impassable road conditions, litter patrol and the preservation of the Wilderness environment.
Kiamichi Cares was founded by the late Patrick William Coleman and paid forward by Tara Stevens.
The Kiamichi Wilderness Community is a non-incorporated community of approximately 10,000 wilderness acres of privately owned lots, camps, cabins and homes.
The Kiamichi Wilderness Community should not be confused with the Upper Kiamichi River Wilderness park which is sometimes referred to as the Kiamichi Wilderness as well.
Roads, trails and entrances to the Community are privately owned and maintained, and are not open to the general public.
All Kiamichi Wilderness Community landowners are encouraged to register for free membership in Kiamichi Cares. Registration provides an easy way to stay connected, stay informed, participate in projects and meetings, vote, request services and build community spirit.
